Defense industry growth forces Indra to grow new profiles | Companies

There are almost three million unemployed in Spain. Despite the numbers, there aren’t a few firms that denounce the lack of talent that could fill their open positions. This is one of the reasons why Indra decided to take charge of the problem and create the Engineering + Technology Campus project, an initiative aimed at accelerating the development of scarce and highly demanded technological profiles in the current war, highly specialized. STEAM capability (science, technology, engineering, arts and math).

There is no other option. Its growth in the aerospace, defense and mobility business, and the demanding level of qualification required by the highly innovative projects it has pioneered internationally and will transform these industries, demanded an enterprise of this magnitude. “In very specific technologies, the most advanced and up-to-date knowledge is within the company and must be passed on to other professionals and junior engineers to ensure Indra’s current and future sustainability,” says talent director Natalia Fernández. group.

University of Alcalá, University of Cantabria and UPM collaborate on the project

The Indra campus will leverage its internal talent when teaching classes, but it also has external collaborators. Therefore, professionals from universities such as Alcalá, Cantabria or Madrid Polytechnic (UPM) teach training modules in some courses of different schools. Also, at the certificate level, those who complete certain courses will receive degrees from the university with Indra. There are even universities, like UPM, that develop specialized specialized training in cooperation with the company’s specialists. They also have the support of 3Weeks, Rebel Talent or Creative Attitude consultants.

“Both the different schools and routes were guided, created and designed by Indra professionals with extensive experience in engineering and technology, and the emergence of each is justified by the training needs demanded by the company’s cutting-edge professionals. The fact of starting with radar and electronic defense are two of the industry’s leading technologies and Indra is leading the world.

This year, approximately 400 people will pass the classes, from basic to advanced

These two schools will follow a specific method, such as communication, digital technologies, mobility and agile methodologies, where others or trainers prepare internal experts and help transfer their knowledge to other professionals. Each school divides its educational content into several levels, from beginner to advanced to expert. At each level, there are different courses that vary in duration depending on the designed program. Acquiring an expert vision to explore different branches of knowledge, from around 40 hours of most basic training to 200 hours of cutting-edge training.

Not just classroom instruction, students run projects, study the company’s products in a practical way, or conduct cases. About 400 people will be going through campus this year, and it won’t be just for those from Indra. The aim is to involve collaborators, clients and future candidates.

Leaders in defense and radar

defend. Indra develops the most pioneering electronic defense systems available. It is part of a consortium of companies developing and developing the Eurofighter self-defense system, a key element for the supremacy of one of the world’s most advanced warplanes. Its technology also protects dozens of air, sea – surface and underwater – and land platforms operating in the most complex scenarios on the planet. He is also the national industrial coordinator of the NGWS/FCAS program, the future European air combat system.

Radar. The company is one of the main radar manufacturers in the world, providing protection both in the field of mobility and transportation and in the field of defense. The protection of European airspace, the survival of the Eurofighter and various naval vessels, and even the protection of orbiting satellites depend on the Spanish company’s mastery of this technology. Working on the development of these systems for over 40 years, Indra has exported its radars to five continents and is the main supplier to NATO. For example, it has developed one of the most powerful radars in Europe and the world, can detect objects orbiting more than 2,000 kilometers from Earth, and is responsible for protecting the launch, satellite and International Space Station.
